Everton sign defender Ben Godfrey from Norwich City
England under-21 center-back signed a five-year contract with the Merseyside club for a reported fee of £20m.
Everton have completed the signing of defender Ben Godfrey from Championship club Norwich City, the club confirmed on Monday.
Godfrey, who plays as a center-back has signed a five-year contract with Carlo Ancelotti’s side. With only Michael Keane and Yerry Mina are currently available in that position for Everton after injuries to Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite, the club was in the market for a defender having previously linked with Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori and Nikola Maksimović of Napoli.
Godfrey played 30 Premier League games for Norwich City last season as the club returned to the second tier of English football after finishing last in the campaign.
Everton are currently top of the table in the Premier League after winning all four games of the season and also reached the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
The 22-year old becomes the club’s fifth signing of this transfer window after the arrivals of Allan, James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Niels Nkounkou.
Everton host rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on October 17 after the international break.
