Everton swoop Abdoulaye Doucouré from Watford on a three-year deal

Frenchman becomes Carlo Ancelotti’s third addition of the summer in the midfield position after the arrivals of Allan and James Rodriguez.

Everton have announced the signing of midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré from Championship side Watford for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday, the club confirmed on their official website.

Doucouré, who started his career in France with Rennes joined then Premier League club Watford in 2016 where he made 129 league appearances and scored 17 goals while also helped the club to reach the FA Cup final during the 2018/19 season.

France under-21 international has signed a three-year contract with an option for fourth with the Toffees and will wear the number 16 shirt in his first season with the club.

Everton have made Doucouré their third signing in four days after announcing Allan from Napoli and James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.

Doucouré revealed during his interview with his new club that ” As he got to know Everton showed an interest in him, he told his agent to focus on Everton as it was the only club he wanted to join”

A box to box midfielder, he is known for his physical strength, pace and tactical awareness of the game and won Watford’s Player of the Season award for the 2017/18 season.
