Marcelo Bielsa’s team will play in the top tier of English football next season after the absence of 16 years.
Leeds United secured the automatic promotion to Premier League after the wait of 16 years when second-placed West Brom lost to Huddersfield Town on Friday. Also known as sleeping giants of English football, Leeds were last seen in the Premier League in 2004 and were also Champions League semi-finalists in 2001.
They came close to the promotion last season only to suffer a defeat to Derby County in the play-off semi-finals. The team is currently owned by Italian Businessman Andrea Radrizzani with 49ers Enterprises investment affiliate of the San Francisco NFL team also has the minority stake at the club.
Leeds have won three English league titles with last coming in 1992 for “The Whites”.
