Liverpool sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for £20M
Former Barcelona midfielder signed a long term contract with the Merseyside club.
Liverpool have signed Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcântara on a long term contract for an initial fee of £20m from Champions League winners Bayern Munich.
Thiago joined Bayern Munich in 2013 from FC Barcelona and made more than 200 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals during his seven years with the club from Bavaria, winning Bundesliga in every season and four DFB-Pokal along with the Champions League in his final season.
This was supposed to be the last season for the Italian born midfielder, however, he stated his desire to move on as he was seeking a new challenge in his game to develop himself further.
Thiago is known for his creativity, amazing dribbling skills and excellent ball controlling ability, he will instantly add sparkle in Liverpool’s midfield and for a team who usually performs so well is an upgrade in their title defence this season.
Born in Italy where his Brazilain father Marzihno was playing for Lecce, Thiago represents Spain National team.
Liverpool paid an initial fee of £20m to Bayern with potential £5m bonuses later.
Thiago could make his debut for his new club on Sunday when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
