Luis Suarez joins Atletico Madrid from Barcelona on a two-year deal
Catalan giants have confirmed the exit of Uruguayan striker on social media after reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid for a fee of 6 million euros.
Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of striker Luis Suarez from La Liga rivals Barcelona on a two-year contract, the club posted on Twitter.
Suarez has scored 198 goals for the club in all competitions making him Barcelona’s third-highest goalscorer in their history.
He joined Barcelona in 2014 from Liverpool and has made over 280 appearances for the club, winning four La Liga, four Copa del Rey trophies and one UEFA Champions League during his six years stay at the Camp Nou.
The Uruguayan striker will replace Alvaro Morata in Atletico Madrid, who re-joined Serie A club Juventus on a season-long loan.
The 33-year-old will give a farewell press conference on Thursday.
New Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman had told Luis Suarez that he is not in his plan for the new season as he was looking to rebuild his squad with Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal also leaving the club.
Luis Suarez scored 16 league goals in his final season at Camp Nou as the club finished second behind champions Real Madrid.
