Man United sign Cavani, Arsenal announce Partey on transfer deadline day

Football transfer deadline day saw clubs making some prominent moves to land their targets as they were looking to improve on their squads ahead of the long campaign.

Manchester United signed free agent striker Edinson Cavani on a one year deal with an option for second along with left back Alex Telles from Porto for a fee of ยฃ15.4 million on a four-year contract.

Facundo Pellistri joins his compatriot Cavani in moving to Old Trafford after signing a five-year contract worth โ‚ฌ10 million.

Arsenal were among the heaviest spenders on the deadline day when they activated Thomas Partey’s โ‚ฌ50 million release clause to sign him from Atletico Madrid on a long term contract, while Lucas Torreira joined Diego Simeone’s team on a one year loan and Matteo Guendouzi joined Hertha Berlin for a season-long loan.

Bayern Munich signed Eric Choupo-Moting on a one year contract from PSG along with re-signing Douglas Costa on a year loan from Juventus.

Premier League club Everton signed goalkeeper Robin Olsen from Roma on a season-long loan along with defender Ben Godfrey from Norwich City, while Theo Walcott joined Southampton on loan. Leeds United confirmed the arrival of Brazil winger Raphinha on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Chris Smalling, who spent last season on loan in Serie A with AS Roma joined the club on a permanent basis in a deal worth ยฃ18.1million that will run for three years. Italian champions Juventus signed Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy for โ‚ฌ40 million.

Davy Klaassen returned to Ajax from Werder Bremen, Justin Kluivert joined RB Leipzig on loan and Ryan Sessegnon completed his two-year loan move to Hoffenheim from Spurs.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain completed the signing of Rafinha from FC Barcelona on a three-year deal along with the loan signings of Moise Kean and Danilo Pereira from Everton and Porto respectively, with an option to make the move permanent for the latter.
