Premier League: Arsenal start 2020/21 season with a comfortable victory over promoted Fulham
Alexandre Lacazette scored the first goal of the new season as the Gunners won 3-0 against newly-promoted Fulham.
Arsenal begin their new Premier League season with an easy win over London rivals Fulham after scoring three past Scott Parker’s team.
Goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and new signing Gabriel confirmed the victory for Arsenal in the opening match of the 2020/21 season.
Arsenal took the lead in the eight-minute of the game when striker Lacazette tapped in home after Fulham failed to clear the initial shot from Willian.
Debutant Gabriel doubled Arsenal’s lead in the second half when he was left unmarked by the Fulham defense during the corner and headed his team’s second of the day and Brazilian’s first for his new club after joining from Lille.
Arsenal put the game out of Fulham’s reach when captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his team’s third goal of the day just before the hour mark after curling the ball into the home team’s net to make it worst for Scott Parker’s newly-promoted side.
Another debutant Willian, who moved to Gunners from rivals Chelsea also came close to scoring his first goal for the new club when his freekick hit the goal post.
Mikel Arteta’s team host another London club West Ham in their next Premier League match while Fulham travel to Ipswich in their Second round EFL Cup match on Wednesday.
