Premier League: Chelsea and Watford cruise to victories, Arsenal held by Leicester City

Frank Lampard’s side victory at Selhurst Park confirmed after the last-ditch tackle by French defender Kurt Zouma as Norwich edge closer to relegation after losing to Watford.

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke looked certain to snatch a draw for his side late in the stoppage time but it was Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma who stood in the way of the striker and secured all three points for his club after his perfect last-ditch challenge to divert the ball away.

Chelsea were 2-0 ahead by the 27th minute with goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic, who is in fine form since the restart scoring his third goal in five games. Palace pulled a goal back from Wilfried Zaha who scored a 25-meter screamer, substitute striker Tammy Abraham restored the two-goal advantage for Chelsea, and a minute later Christian Benteke scored his first home goal since April 2018.

In Emirate Stadium, Arsenal were on course to a victory over 3rd placed Leicester thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored his 20th goal of the season that would have open the Gunners challenge for the top four finish and a champions league qualification. However, substitute striker Eddie Nketiah was sent off for a studs-first lunge on Leicester fullback James Justin in the 75th minute. Premier League top scorer Jamie Vardy then equalized for the foxes nine minutes later.

Bottom club Norwich City faced Watford in the contest of relegation battle, Canaries could become the first team to relegate this season if they lose to West Ham on Saturday after losing 2-1 to Watford. This was Watford’s first win since the restart that moved them four points clear from the relegation zone. Danny Welbeck scored the winning goal for the Hornets in the 55th minute with an overhead kick after conceding a fourth-minute goal from Emiliano Buendia, while defender Craig Dawson equalizing in the 10th minute from the corner.
