David Silva signs for Real Sociedad on a two-year deal
Former Manchester City midfielder joined La Liga side after spending ten years at the Etihad.
Real Sociedad have confirmed the signing of David Silva on a free transfer. Silva, who will join the Basque Club on a two-year deal after leaving Manchester City where he spent ten years and winning 11 domestic trophies.
The 34-year-old announced his departure from the club after making his final appearance in City’s 1-3 defeat to Lyon in the Champions League quarterfinals. He made more than 300 appearances for the Manchester-based club and is considered by many as one of City’s best players to play in the Premier League.
Known by the name El Mago, Silva represented Spain national team 125 times between 2006-2018 winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup as well as 2008 and 2012 UEFA European Football Championship.
City said in a statement earlier on Monday that the club would honor him with his statue outside their stadium.
Real Sociedad finished the La Liga season in the sixth spot and will enter the group stage of the Europa League.
