La Liga side appointed former Arsenal manager after parting ways with Javier Calleja
Unai Emery has joined Villarreal as a head coach after agreeing to join the La Liga side on a three-year contract.
“Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Unai Emery for the Basque manager to be Yellows head coach for the next three seasons,” the club said in a statement.
The 48-year old last managed Premier League side Arsenal and led the north London club to the Europa League final last season before being sacked in November last year after a poor run of form.
Emery, who famously won three straight Europa League titles with Sevilla from 2014-16 has also managed Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain where he won five trophies.
Javier Calleja led The Yellow Submarine to a fifth-placed finish in recently concluded 2019-20 La Liga season before being sacked.
Santi Cazorla, who joined Qatari side Al-Sadd also left the El Submarino Amarillo.
Villarreal are set to play in Europa League next season.
